About Us

“We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.  While never accepting the awful void we would not have it any other way.  We cherish memory as the only certain immortality never fully understanding the final plan.”
Irving Townsend

Arenray Shetland Sheepdogs was established in 1988 as a hobby, not a business, and it remains so today.
I obtained my first pet sheltie in 1973 and I have not been without a sheltie ever since.
We do not have a kennel.  Our dogs are lovingly kept and raised in our home as our constant companions.

Many of our dogs have earned titles in Conformation, Herding, Agility, Rally and Obedience and two ASSA Versatility Titled dogs.  I am the breeder owner handler on most all of our A.K.C.  conformation champions and I have used professional handlers on a limited basis.  We have bred Specialty and National Specialty winning dogs.  What we are most proud of is sharing our late stud dog, Ch Arenray’s Reminisce ROM, with the fancy who is the sire of 15 American Champions and multiple International Champions and has sired five Register of Merit offspring to date.
We take breeding very seriously.  We only breed for ourselves when we have room for another show dog.  Each litter is carefully planned and we only use dogs in our program that conform to the breed standard written by our parent club, The American Shetland Sheepdog Association.  These dogs must also pass genetic testing to rule out genetic abnormalities such as hip dysplasia, inherited eye problems, thyroid disease, Von Willebrand’s disease (hemophilia) and MDR-1 (Multi-Drug Resistance gene).  Since our space is limited so are the frequencies of our litters.  On rare occasions do we share our dogs with other reputable show homes.  Occasionally we might have puppies and or adult shelties available to approved companion homes.  Please see our available and nursery pages. All dogs offered for sale through this website are sold to approved homes only.  We reserve the right to choose
which home is best suited for the dog according to our terms and conditions.  All companion adults will be spayed or neutered prior to leaving here and we contractually require spaying and neutering of companion puppies which are sold with limited A.K.C. registrations.  We do not ship our pet/companion puppies/adults and require that prospective new owners fill out our “Getting to Know You” questionnaire to be placed on our approved wait list.  Being on our wait list is not a guarantee that we will have a dog for you.  We also require that you come to our home so that we can meet with you in person.

Your inquiries are always welcomed.

I dedicate this website to my late parents.
They taught me at an early age how to care, train and love my dogs.
As a result of their teachings I have experienced unconditional love in return.
I will always be grateful to them for their support and encouragement in my life along with my journey in the sport of dogs.
I never would have realized my dreams without them.
